Overview:

The "Smart Kids in Safety" workshop is designed to educate children aged 4-8 about essential safety practices in a fun and interactive way. This initiative aims to empower young participants with the skills and knowledge to recognize potential dangers, respond to emergencies, and stay safe both at home and online.


Workshop Details:


- Age Group: 4-8 years old

- Date and Time: August 31, 2024, from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM

- Location: Oak Ridges Community Centre and Pool, 12895 Bayview Avenue, Richmond Hill, ON L4E 3G2


Workshop Activities:


1. Home Safety Basics:

   - Identify household hazards such as sharp objects, electrical outlets, and chemicals.

   - Engage in a "hazard hunt" game to identify dangers in a sample area.

   

2. Emergency Preparedness:

   - Teach children how to respond in emergencies (e.g., fire drills, calling emergency services, basic first aid).

   - Collaborate with local fire departments for practical demonstrations.


3. Stranger Danger and Online Safety:

   - Discuss dealing with strangers and staying safe online.

   - Conduct role-plays on privacy and respectful online behavior.


4. Hands-On Demonstrations:

   - Practical demonstration of basic CPR techniques and safety equipment, such as smoke alarms and fire extinguishers.


5. Parent Participation Session:

   - Simultaneous session for parents on comprehensive home safety and the services offered by "Mom & Dad Home Care Services."

   - Emphasize the importance of a safe environment for all family members, including seniors.


Possible Collaborations:


- York Regional Fire Department: Partnering for credibility and practical demonstrations, such as visits to the fire truck or learning about fire safety equipment.

- York Regional Police Department: Collaborating to provide necessary safety tips and guidance.
